-Family and educational background.
My family is quite big. My father, who is 54 years old, has only a sister whose name is Julia. My father’s parents are dead. My grandfather Manuel died when I was about 5 years old and my grandmother Angelina died 4 years ago.
My mother Amparo is 51 years old and has a lot of brothers and sisters. My grandparents had 17 children but 3 of them died so now there are 14 alive. My grandmother Juana died 4 years ago and this death was traumatic for my family because everybody loved her. When my grandfather Isaac died I wasn’t born. I have also 20 cousins. I like my mother’s family because it is very interesting and you are never bored with them. I don’t see some of my aunts and uncles very frequently because they are working, they have to stay with their family, etc. but I like this situation because if I can’t visit one of my aunts or uncles I can visit another.
I have also a sister whose name is Marta and is 17 years old. She lives with my parents and me in a house in Avilés and she is studying in High School.
My first year of school was in La Luz but when I was 4 years old I went to the Marcelo Gago school. When I finished the primary education I moved to Middle School in La Magdalena. Here I stayed 6 years, 4 of which were doing the compulsory education and the 2 last were completing the High School studies. Apart from that I took some courses. I did a draw course, an English course and an computer literacy course in the Primary school. My parents also help me when I needed help in the studies or when doing my homework.
-Occupation.
Now, I’m studying first year at the university. I’m studying to become a mechanical engineer. It takes about 3 years and it is very difficult, but if you study hard you can pass it. In the university there are a few girls and a lot of boys. The best of it is that you can make a lot of friends and if you need help don’t worry because someone will help you. At the university there is a cafeteria where all the people go when they don’t have a class or because they don’t want to go. I like the cafeteria because is very big and it is always full of people. In the future I’d like to finish the course and I’d like to work in a company. Then I’d like to buy a flat or a house.





-Hobbies and interests.
I like reading very much. Now, I’m reading “The boy in the stripped pjyamas” which is very interesting. When I finish it I’d like to see the film.
The books I love are “The pillars of the Earth” and “World without end” by Ken Follet. In my opinion these books are the best I’ve ever read. They are quite long but they are exciting.
Besides I like listening music, going out or surfing on the internet like the majority of young people. I like shopping too. I like travelling, visiting new places, mountains, beaches… This summer I went to Galicia and Portugal with part of my family and I enjoyed it very much.
When I was in the school I loved playing football. I was usually playing sports with boys instead of playing with girls. Now I don’t play any sport because I don’t have time but if I could, I’d do it.

My family, the people I live with, is not very large, just my parents and my younger brother, who is 10. My parents and closest family, like my grandma and my uncle, are the people who are mainly responsible what I am now. They've shown me everything they've considered was the best for me and they've shown me how to behave in every situation. Another which is important in defining myself are my friends and my own experiences. The most remarkable aspects they've taught me are the sense of being polite, responsible, to fight for the things that really matter to me, and try to be happy and get over difficult things.

- OCCUPATION:
Actually, I'm studying in the high school and in two years I want to go to the University to study Medicine.
In my free time I try to see my friends because they don't go to the same school as me and we go for a walk, to the disco... other things I enjoy doing in my free time are: listening to music and chatting with friends I haven’t seen for long because I've met them in courses abroad and they are either from other cities in Spain or form other countries.

- HOBBIES & INTERESTS:
I'm a very curious person, I like travelling to new places where I can discover new cultures and ways of living, new languages and also see things I’ve studied before; for example when I visit a museum or a cultural city like Mérida.
Besides I like painting, I've been going to classes for several years. The thing I like the most of art is drawing, but I also can paint in oil, watercolours or pastel.
Another characteristic of me is that I'm keen on sports. During my childhood I've done ballet, swimming and, actually, I play basketball. I've been playing basketball since I was nine and I love it. Anther sport I like a lot is diving, so this summer I've done a diving curse with my uncle, who is a diving teacher.

I was born in Oviedo in September 1991, while the city was celebrating its festivities. Around the time I was born my parents were living separately. My father was a teacher in Tapia de Casariego and my mother worked in Oviedo, but my birth changed everything, as three years later we moved to Salinas. I’ve lived there since I was 4 and it has become the place "where I come from". It’s truly a great place to grow up, specially when you are a kid, but it becomes a bit weary. Most of my friends live here or around here, en the very next towns, such as Raices or Avilés.

My childhood has been quite normal. I grew up as an only child, being quite happy and having my education in the public school. I’ve always had good marks and I will start next year university to study "Engineering of ways, channels and bridges" in La Coruña. I’m quite scared about the possibility of living alone and far from home (Not too much, but this is a step).

My principal interest is arts in general and being more precisely cinema, literature and music. I watch lots of films and I admire directors such as Truffaut or F.F Coppola. In literature I’m an eclectic (And not tasteful at all) reader, but I have to say that I read a lot and I’ve got preference in realistic novels. I usually hate fantastic books. And the most important interest I have is music. I have no musical studies nor can I read scores, but I try to play guitar by ear. I admire lots of musicians, such as Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Will Oldham, Nacho Vegas, Paul Weller... I saw the first in concert and it was wonderful, a magical experience.

RASPBERRY AND MINT TART, By María Amorín, 2NAE

RASPBERRY AND MINT PIE

For pie:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups fresh raspberries.
1 9 inches unbaked pie shell.
For topping:
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter -- softened
whipped cream
fresh raspberries
fresh mint leaves
Method:
For pie:
First, you need a large bowl to combine sugar, flour, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. You should buy the sour cream because it’s very difficult to make. When you have mixed all these ingredients you have to focus on the raspberries. Spoon the raspberries and don’t stop until you have covered the entire pie shell. Then you bake the pie at 400° for 30 to 35 minutes or until the centre of pie appears set.

For topping:
To make the topping you have to combine 1/3 cup flour, brown sugar and butter. First boil the butter to make it more flowed, and add the other ingredients, then you have to whisk vigorously. Then sprinkle the mix over the hot pie. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes or until golden, covering edges with aluminium foil to prevent it from excessive browning, if necessary. Garnish with whipped cream, raspberries, and mint leaves.
Finally, you will have a not very sweet tart and with a fresh touch that will do the delights of those who try it. A dessert for all tastes, with a slight flavour of mint to make it more entertaining.
